Golden Joystick Awards 2021: GTA Online and GTA V amongst winners

It’s not just the movie industry getting ready for the award season. Other entertainment industry sectors, including video and computer games, are also taking stock of the year’s achievements and celebrating exceptional accomplishments by awarding prizes. Apart from the awards that will be presented during Los Angeles in early December, The traditional awards are among the most significant events of this type.

Yesterday, for the 39th time, the most prestigious awards were handed out that are mainly based on audience votes and thus reflected the decision-making power of gamers. In contrast, only about 10% of winners are decided by the public during the Game Awards. The biggest award winner at this years’ Golden Joystick Awards was Capcom with Resident Evil Village. The horror game is likely to be awarded a total of four categories. Capcom was awarded the Studio of the Year.

But, the category “Critics Choice” and “Breakthrough award” are given by a “group comprised of specialists.” Alongside the standard prizes like Game of the Year or Most Wanted, there were two distinct categories this year to celebrate”50 years of gaming, “50 years of gaming,” the best gaming hardware ever made, and the best game ever played.

In addition, it is interesting to note that the “50 years” of Gaming is based on the launch of the first video game, the arcade machine Computer Space in November 1971. The game was designed in the hands of Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney. Bushnell was later credited for the legendary Pong and left his mark on the history of video games as the founder of Atari.

The reason certain games that gamers who are ardent fans might be looking forward to, like Forza Horizon 5 or Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy, are not being considered is due to the late voting deadline. Votes can only be cast up to November 1st, and the list of candidates was drawn up prior to that time.

We’ve listed all winners below, along with other nominees for the categories they fall in. The nominations were made by a committee comprised of editors from a variety of gaming magazines that are published through Future Publishing.

We still await the golden joysticks for mobile games, so GTA 5 Mobile can have a chance at being #1 on both operating systems.
